Just like the song goes, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s for everyone, including your Chinese date. It’s the season of celebrating, of forgiveness, of gathering, and of love. Mostly, Christmastime is the season for families, but it can be for couples just as well, and just because you are in the early stage of dating does not mean you can’t make Christmastime work in your favor, especially with these tips.
- Respect each other’s traditions.
Respect is very important in any relationship, which is why it’s the first rule on making your Christmastime work with your lover. This rule applies to anyone and everyone as people have different traditions, customs, and beliefs about and during the Christmas season. So, do not be surprised to find out that your Chinese beauty has her own. Despite the unfamiliarity, learn to respect them; respect her traditions just the way you want her to respect yours.
- Make time for each other.
Christmas season is one of the busiest, if not the busiest, times of the year. Families go on holidays, parties are thrown here and there, new activities are tried, and reunions are scheduled. Because of all these, you may barely have time for each other, and this is more of a reason for you to be extra aware of the fact and exert more effort on making sure you do get to spend some time together. It might be a busy season, but continuously and successfully dating a Chinese girl will also bank on the time that the two of you have for each other.
- Avoid being demanding of her time.
While on the topic of giving time during the holidays, it’s important to remember that even though it’s imperative that you get to have some couple’s time, it’s equally imperative that neither of you is too demanding of it. Both of you are supposed to be adults, and so you should both understand that each of you is going to be quite busy with your respective families and friends this season.
- Make room for adjustments.
Another advice to heed is to learn to make adjustments. There will be times during the whole holiday season wherein you have already made plans with each other, but you would have to postpone because you either have an urgent matter to attend to or that a situation with her Chinese babes or girlfriends suddenly came up. Regardless of the reason, be prepared to be flexible and considerate about possible adjustments and readjustments of your plan, especially if there’s actually a valid reason for it.
- Exchange small gifts.
This one is one of the biggest dilemmas of new couples on Christmastime, not just when dating a Chinese girl. This is something that single Chinese women or men probably don’t have. Should I give a gift? What kind of gift is enough? What kind of gift says too much? To be on the safe side, settle for small gifts. Small gifts often serve as a token of appreciation which tells the receiver that you’ve thought of them, but not in a suffocating way.
- Make new traditions.
Earlier we talked about respecting each other’s traditions. Now, it would also be a good idea if you make your own traditions. You may be a new couple, but you’re not dating on a Chinese dating website, which means that it’s okay to have something memorable, and having exclusive traditions between each other qualifies as such.
- Go to some events.
Do not enclose yourselves in a small bubble. Do go to some events. Mature Chinese ladies appreciate men who know how to have fun in the outside world without leaving their respective partners behind.
- Drink moderately.
However, just because the two of you enjoy going to events does not mean you are allowed to party too hard. Be mature enough to have fun without getting too wasted. This rule applies to both of you as you wouldn’t want your girlfriend to do the same.
- Take it easy.
Take it easy, too. The positive vibe of the holiday season might get you too swept up. Remember to think rationally because if you don’t, you might overwhelm the both of you.
Understand that there are still boundaries, some dos and don’ts, even if it’s the season of giving. Do not give too much just like you shouldn’t ask for too much. This is not to say that you should meet Chinese women to appear calm about your relationship. Make the holidays special, but normal enough to keep the relationship going even after the season has ended.
- It’s okay not to get invited to some events.
Getting invited to important events during the holidays, such as family reunions and gatherings with close friends, is a huge deal. If you’re a new couple, don’t take it personally if you don’t get invited to any of these. Both of you are still testing the waters. She should not be pressured into inviting you to her important events just like you should not be pressured into inviting her to your important events just yet.
Holidays can be fun yet sometimes stressful for everyone, regardless if they’re couples or single Chinese ladies and men. The most important thing to remember at all times is to embrace the Christmas spirit. As a couple, just enjoy and make the most out of it.
